Services

Sports

Sports at Amethyst include baseball, tennis, badminton, pickleball, soccer, sailing, canoeing, swimming, rock climbing and many other fun activities. There are organized sports for children up to the age of sixteen, including land sports and swimming lessons for several weeks during the summer. Three excellent tennis courts are available and usually quite busy during the summer months. The association provides lessons through its own instructors and also using third party professionals.

Socials

The Association has a series of social get together’s across the summer months as well as into the spring and fall. The events generally take place at the Gazebo on Friday evenings. All residents are welcome and it is expected that people will contribute something to the event and bring their own beverages.

Arbour Day

Every year near the May long weekend many volunteers get together for a Saturday morning to clear up brush on the Amethyst properties, and to help set things up for the new camping season ahead. This usually involves clearing brush, removing dead fall and generally tending to any trees that may be overhanging the tennis courts or other facilities.

Garbage Pickup

During the summer months, the association arranges for weekly garbage pickup for member camps. This typically takes place on Saturdays, and goes for the duration of the summer season from the 1st of July to the 31st of August.

Facilities

Main dock

AHCA owns the Main Dock in South Bay. The dock is used daily in the summer months for swimming lessons, and as a convenient stopping place for local boaters and visiting boaters.

There is a $5.00 daily fee for boaters parking at the dock.

A launching ramp is also available immediately to the left of the dock. It is for the use of members and a launching fee of $5.00 is charged.

Tennis Courts

AHCA has a set of three fenced tennis courts located next to the ball field. The courts have recently been repaved and are in excellent condition. The association offers tennis lessons in the children’s program as well as coaching for adults.

Badminton / PickleBall / Basketball Courts

There are three badminton courts across from the tennis courts. These are also used for Pickle ball and Basketball, which is enjoyed by many members as an alternative to tennis.

Baseball Field

The ball field has always been located just off the South Bay Road, just next to the tennis courts. It is the scene of many activities during the summer months, including baseball games, soccer matches, the annual Sports Weekend and many more activities.

Gazebo

This is a new structure which provides a shelter for sports activities on rainy days, serves as an excellent meeting place, and is the location of our summer socials. The gazebo encompasses an area of approximately 40 ft. by 40 ft. and has the basic octagonal shape.
